The Curious Case of Barack Obama
By Luis F. Brizuela Cruz
When Barack H. Obama reached the presidency of the United States of America in 2008, his undaunted quick rise to the top seemed like a fable. There was some degree of anger and disbelief in some precincts -particularly at the headquarters of the suddenly bewildered and up to that point seemingly invincible Clinton Machine- but collectively, the most self-righteous and benevolent society in planet Earth welcomed the triumph of the inexperienced and abstaining senator from Chicago as the vindicating culmination of two centuries of struggle with racial and class discrimination.
The United States had arrived and it was time for every American to seat back and rejoice at the prospect of the eradication of any remaining vestiges of prejudice from our often critical past. Even those who may not have agreed fully with Obama’s brief and inconclusive political portfolio conceded in favor of the enormous transcendence that the novelty of a mixed race president could signify for the future of our nation and the entire world.
As constitutionally required, a bit more than half of the population of a nation -worn down by war and persuaded by various decades of a proliferating liberal doctrine- had decided on the leader who would advocate for fiscal equality, at a junction when it appeared as if racial inequality had finally been overcome. It was time to follow his lead on matters like the redistribution of wealth. The consensus of the masses was that some simply had too much and a larger minority did not seem to have enough, so multitudes embraced the idea of leveling the playing field and everyone should prosper.
Four years later in 2012, after incurring in the biggest expenditure by any president in the history of the United States with minimum results, the same indulging and dependency-leaning demography ratified Obama’s tenure for another four years; mesmerized by the propaganda of, ironically, the biggest and wealthiest political campaign in American history and convinced that more time was required for the new leader to complete the mission he had referred to as “the fundamental transformation of America”. After nearly six years, the case can be accurately made that Obama’s mission has been accomplished, as the United States clearly appear closer to its sociological, moral and material demise. Obama has indeed transformed the nation and with nearly two years left in his administration, a much stronger case can be made that the damage ultimately assessed may very well turn out to be irreversible in nature.
During his tenure Obama has managed to seriously augment the racial divide in a country that had come such a long way over the last several decades in that regard, as well as in many other social issues. It is worth mentioning that Obama was in a unique position, as the son of a black African father and a white American mother, to be the great unifier between all people from diverse races and ethnicity. Instead, he chose to subtly condescend with black and other minorities and expose discrimination and prejudice at every opportunity he found; often reviving dormant racial tensions and even provoking an increase in social unrest.
He openly accused and criticized the United States, during his visits abroad, for what he interpreted as “historical injustices” and imperialistic intrusions in other countries’ affairs, in accurate mimicking of his estranged father’s socialist views -as clearly exposed in the book Dreams of my Father. This anti American posture exhibited by the Commander in Chief proved to be the catalyst for the gradual dissolution of many traditional United States’ allies and the rapid emboldening of former and new adversaries around the globe. The world is a much more dangerous place six years after the election and two years after the reelection of the man who essentially epitomizes the absolute antithesis of American founding and traditional values.
In the economic front, another alarming case can be formulated against the Obama administration’s blatant squandering of the wealth of the nation, with the disproportionate proliferation of the nanny state and the billions of dollars facilitated to organizations and corporations who have supported its political campaigns and agenda. The abuse and misuse of money and other resources in practically unchecked social programs has debilitated the will of the people to seek stability and/or prosperity by ways of self-sufficiency, while private small and big businesses remain stagnated and highly cautious about investments under a misconstrued economy. All this deriving from a political platform that initially had pledged to reduce the earmarks in its legislation and policy and incentivize the business and job market. It is by all means conceivable that at the conclusion of the Obama’s eight years as president our national debt will have reached the 20 trillion dollars mark and nearly 60% of the citizenry will have some kind of entitlement; as more individuals will defect the middle class ranks in pursuit of the government’s handouts.
Ambivalent in regard to most foreign affairs, particularly those extremely urgent in nature, Obama has utilized domestically his executive power more than any other American president in history, at times even to contradict his own policies –traits characteristic of leaders with dictatorial tendencies.
In the minds of many, the questions remain whether Barack H. Obama has caused this level of irreparable damage purposely or as a result of his ineptitude and incompetence. Whether he and his administration, knowingly, have seized the opportune historical moment when various key elements of society may have been all in place for the beginning of the conversion of the country toward a socialist fallacious utopia, or if Obama has just acted motivated by an inborn instinct which can be explained by the genetic fusion of ideas emanating from his libertine, socialist mother and the communist visions of his derelict father. Whether his actions are entirely his own or if he acts in response to the whim of unseen powers intended to bring down the United States of America in favor of an idyllic universal order, where a socialist elite will rule and Obama has been guaranteed certain participation in such scheme. Long time currency saboteurs like George Soros immediately come to mind, as individuals who have enriched themselves taking advantage of periods of economic imbalance and then using their enormous resources to foster their ambitious agendas.
Regardless of the attempted or seemingly clear answers to any of the above questions and/or conjectures, the present scenario and the outlook for the future seem quite grim and the hope of reversal extremely faint at best. The curious case of Barack Obama will be, however, most likely portrayed by politically correct and self-exculpating historians as simply “enigmatic”, for any intended purpose of posterity –provided that there is one after all.
